Whether a credit expires depends on where it came from.
Which credits expire?
- Paid (purchased) credits never expire.
- Free credits expire. These are welcome credits, campaign credits, institution grants and credits given by Kaynac. The default validity is one year.
Spending order
When you spend credits, the ones that expire first are used first. This way your free credits are used before they are lost.
Reminder
For credits that are about to expire, you get a reminder 7 days before they expire. You can manage your e-mail and push preferences in notification settings.
Where can I see this?
The ledger shows each credit movement with its type, reason, who made it and the balance after it. Expired credits are also recorded in the ledger.

- Use your free credits before they expire.
- Check your feed regularly for suitable requests.
- Keep notifications on.
Common questions
Do expired credits come back? No. Expired free credits are not restored.
Are the credits I bought deleted after a year? No, paid credits do not expire.
What if my balance mixes paid and free credits? Free credits closest to expiry are spent first, then the rest.
